Her father Fadil is Albanian from Kosovo. Her grandfather moved to Bosnia and Hercegovina in 1965 from the town of Đakovica in south western Kosovo, while her mother Enesa is original Bosnian from the town of Tuzla.

Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Dragana toured and recorded with the band, Južni vetar (Southern Wind). In 2006, Dragana released her 19th album titled Luče moje. She has also recorded a duet with Serbian star Zorica Brunclik titled Sele moja. She also acted in the movie Slatko od snova.

Halid Bešlić (born 20 November 1953, Sokolac, Yugoslavia, now Bosnia-Herzegovina), is a popular folk singer in Bosnia and Herzegovina and equally popular in the other former Yugoslav republics.
As the story goes, his singing career jump-started while he was constructing roof-tops in or around Sarajevo, and was singing while working as an agent passed by and overheard his singing. The agent was so amazed that he quickly took Bešlić under his wing and helped him to fame.

Her breakthrough album Januar (January), released in 2003 which featured the singles Atina (Athens), Ako Ikad Ostarim (If I ever get old) and the title track became very popular with pop/folk fans. In 2006, the new single Romale, romali was also a huge summer hit which was played many times on the commercial Serbian television networks such as RTS, BKTV and Pink TV.
With the track Romale, romali, Nikolić competed to represent Serbia and Montenegro in what should have been the country's last ever Eurovision as a federation though as events turned out, they would not participate that year. The song finishing in 5th place having scored 46 points.
Ana Nikolic also released album in 2006 called Devojka od Cokolade.Her most popular tracks of this album were Romale Romali,Devojka od cokolade and Plakacete sa mnom oboje.
